That Hobby Looks Like a Lot of Work !

One of the Yahoo groups I am in posted this link and I found it such a good read thought I would pass it on ! It is about people who are using Etsy to run successful home businesses.

Let me know what you think, I would love to hear from everyone on this one, how many of you would quit your day job if you could and turn your "hobby" into a full time job ?

I personally would, what holds me back is the cost of medical insurance, if I could solve that, you betcha yippy skippy would I be all over staying home and seeing if I could turn my passion into a full time job.

Three years ago I would've been able to quit my day job and voila, the economy started slipping away from us. I would quit in a heartbeat! Urban Outfitters...are you reading this? Want to cut another gal or two a break?!! Whenever I have been able to do my art "full time", however, I find getting uninspired is common...I think it's important if you quit your day job to find a good balance of work/activities so you don't (as the subject of the article professes) "knit allllll day". That would take the joy right out of it for me! I look forward to hearing what others say. Thanks for asking, Muse...this is a very controversial subject for most.

Thanks for sharing this article ... at first I found it very cynical. I read it to my husband and he asked if this article was written by a man? I checked it out and I believe it was! This article was written totally from a man's point of view. This is why he focused on the negative and even made it sound degrading to women. Since when is doing something you love to do a bad thing? And where is the control that we can have over how much or how little we do? I think I will share more about this on our blog....

Glad you ladies enjoyed, I have thought many times what it would take to quit the daytime job and make a go at this business, we even went in as partners on a store front for over a year but ended up losing money compaired to the shows we normally did. What I know now, I would not open brick and mordur (sp) shop, but do look forward to teaching classes. Our goal is a traveling shop, a big 32 ft travel trailer converted into a sale/teaching shop ... ahhhhhh the dream !
